LESLEY MUNRO

ABOUT

Lesley Munro is an Australian artist based in Fremantle, Western Australia. Her practice of over 40 years has manifested in many different forms, from an early modernist emphasis on painting and printmaking to more recent investigations into experimental processes and the nature of image making, particularly in response to the  urban-industrial and night  landscape. Finding beauty and expressive potential in ordinary and everyday objects has  lead her current practice to utilize a broad range of traditional and contemporary media, including discarded or sourced industrial and building remnants. These are often incorporated into intuited or observed images and objects, many of which result in abstract forms that reflect the subjective and  evolutionary nature of her work, together with the sometimes unexpected outcomes of decisions  that may be orderly or frenetic,  disciplined, or wilful. Some are seen as metaphors for human experience and vulnerability, as expressions of conversation and memory, loss, solace or redemption.

Lesley is a member of the West Australian artist's association Art Collective WA.
